The Argyle reflects all the modern luxurious comforts of a highland haven. The name hails from an era when a Scottish Tea Planter settled in the area, and developed it into tea estates that produced some of the finest Ceylon Tea, popular the world over. The area is currently known as Kuda-Oya.

The inspiration for The Argyle is drawn from various historical characters that were instrumental in shaping the destiny of Scotland over the centuries. As such, our rooms, restaurant and lounge echo the rich background stories of these real-life legends.

Queen Mary's Dining Room - Like the audacious and plucky Mary Queen of Scots, the restaurant offers a curated international culinary experience. A truly cosmopolitan offering to suit the most discerning palates, from local favourites to delicacies from across the world, the Queen Mary’s Dining Room is a royal dining experience. All produce is sourced locally and meals can be ordered any time and even delivered to guests’ rooms.    

Robert Burns Lounge - Inspired by the Scottish bard, let your hair down and sing your blues away at this modern karaoke lounge equipped with the latest technology and sound systems for an unforgettable night of song.

Wallace Rooms - Named after Sir William Wallace, one of Scotland’s greatest national heroes, whose story inspired the beloved film Braveheart, these eight stylishly appointed rooms are located in the lower terrace of the property, offering a small private garden for intimate cuppas to be enjoyed along with the view of rolling green hills.

Steward Rooms - Paying homage to the bravery of the 6 th High Steward of Scotland Walter Stewart, these five luxury rooms are located on the upper terrace of the hotel and present a private balcony overlooking emerald vistas stretching into the horizon. Spaciously laid out and yet quietly cosy, they are ideal for lovelorn couples and small families. Easy access for the differently-abled is also provided.




Bruce Rooms - Twenty-four elegant rooms promising the classic Highland experience, they are titled in tribute to Robert the Bruce, the famed warrior King of Scots. The dozen rooms on the upper level showcase direct views of the mystical Adam’s Peak whilst the lower dozen open out into a large enclosed garden and a heated swimming pool. Facilities for interconnecting rooms are available as well as easy access for the differently-abled.


Campbell Suite - The luxury of luxuries, the honeymoon suite is surrounded by high windows presenting a 270 degree view. Watch the mists roll over the hills before the rising sun dispels their breadth and reveal the surrounding mountain tops from your luxurious bed in this romantic Highland sanctuary. The suite defers to Scottish peer and soldier Archibald Campbell, the 9th Earl of Argyll and hereditary chief of Clan Campbell and provides easy access for the differently-abled.
